미국 국무부는 버마 군사정부가 최근 몇 주 동안 수지 여사의 석방을 촉구한 민주화 운동가들을 체포 하는 등 인권 탄압을 강화했다고 말했습니다.

The United States and the European Union are calling on Burma's military-led government to release Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi from house detention.
Aung San Suu Kyi has spent most of the past 17 years under house arrest, but her term of detention comes up for review this Sunday, May 27th.
Both the EU and the U.S. State Department have issued statements urging Burma to release her and other political prisoners.
The State Department says Burma has "renewed its assault on human rights" in recent weeks by arresting activists who have called for Aung San Suu Kyi's release.
The EU statement urges Burma's military leaders to release Aung San Suu Kyi and use it as an opportunity for national reconciliation and "genuine democratic transition."
