프랑스에서 6일 실시된 대통령 선거 결선 투표 결과 보수파의 니콜라 사르코지가 안정된 표차로 사회당의 세골렌 루아얄 후보를 누르고 승리를 거두었습니다.
전국의 투표소가 문을 닫은 지 몇 분 만에 루아얄은 패배를 인정했습니다.
사르코지 후보는 지지자들에게 프랑스의 모든 국민을 위한 대통령이 될 것이며 프랑스는 또다시 유럽의 일부가 될 것이라고 말했습니다.
그는 또한 미국은 프랑스를 우방국으로 기대할 수 있을 것이며 프랑스는 항상 미국 편에 있게 될 것이라고 말했습니다. 하지만 그는 그렇다고 해서 항상 두 나라의 견해가 일치해야하는 것을 의미하는 것은 아니라면서 미국에 대해 지구 온난화 현상에 대처하는 일에 앞장설 것을 촉구했습니다.
결선 투표 예상 결과에서는 헝가리 이민자 아들인 사르코지가 53%를 득표한 반면에 루아얄 후보는 47%를 득표한 것으로 나타났습니다. 공식 집계 결과는 6일 늦게 나올 것으로 예상됩니다. 이번 결선 투표에서는 85%의 참여율을 보인 것으로 추산됐습니다.

French conservative Nicolas Sarkozy has won the French presidency, defeating Socialist rival Segolene Royal by a comfortable margin.
Royal conceded defeat minutes after polls closed at 18 hours Universal Time.
Moments later, Sarkozy's face flashed on television screens across France signaling victory, as thousands of jubilant supporters roared their approval.
He told supporters he will he the president of all the French and said France will once again be a part of Europe.
He also said the United States can count on France's friendship and that Paris will always be at Washington's side. But he says that does not mean the two countries must always see eye to eye. He also called on the United States to take the lead in fighting global warming.
Opinion polls going into Sunday's runoff vote showed Sarkozy, the son of a Hungarian immigrant, winning 53 percent of the vote versus 47 percent for Royal. Official results are expected late Sunday.
Voter turnout was estimated at 85 percent.
