미국 중부 캔사스주에서 토네이도, 강력한 회오리 바람으로 최소한 9명이 사망한 후 하루 만에 또다시 토네이도가 발생했습니다.
미국 국립기상센터는 5일밤 최소한 열 차례 토네이도가 캔사스주를 강타했다고 밝혔습니다.
또한 인근 오클라호마주 서북부의 스위트워터 마을에도 토네이도가 발생했습니다.
아직까지 사상자 여부는 밝혀지지 않았습니다.
6일에도 미국 중부 평원지방에는 악천후가 계속되고 돌발적 홍수사태가 발생할 것으로 우려됩니다.
지난 4일밤 강력한 토네이도가 캔사스주 그린스버그 마을을 휩쓸어 거의 마을 전체가 파괴됐습니다.
그린스버그 마을 주민 1천6백명 가운데 8명이 숨졌으며 인근 카운티 주민 1명도 숨졌습니다.
6일 현재 수색작업과 구조작업이 계속되고 있습니다.

More tornadoes have struck the central U.S. state of Kansas a day after a powerful twister killed at least nine people and destroyed most of a small town there.
The National Weather Service says at least ten tornadoes touched down late Saturday. A tornado also struck neighboring Oklahoma in the northwestern part of the state (in the town of Sweetwater). It is not clear if there are any injuries.
More severe weather and flash floods are forecast for the central plains states today (Sunday).
A massive tornado late Friday flattened nearly the entire town of Greensburg, Kansas - a community of about 16-hundred residents in the southwest part of the state. Eight people were killed in Greensburg, and one person died in a nearby county. Search and rescue operations are continuing today (Sunday).
