이라크 정부와 유엔은 3일 주로 이라크와 관련한 경제 문제를 포함하는 국제협정을 출범시키며, 이라크의 안보와 정치적 화해 노력에 대해서도 의견을 나눌 예정입니다.
이집트를 방문한 콘돌리자 라이스 미국 국무장관은 이라크의 상황이 중동의 안정에 결정적 역할을 할 것이라고 말했습니다. 라이스 장관은 2일 도착 직후 누리 알-말리키 이라크 총리와 짧은 회담을 가졌습니다.
라이스 장관은 이어 이란 외무장관과 만난다면 이라크 이외의 문제를 논의할 용의도 있다고 말했습니다. 이번 회담에서는 라이스 장관과 시리아 관리들과의 대화도 이뤄질 것으로 예상됩니다.

Top diplomats from around the world are arriving in Egypt for a conference on stabilizing Iraq.
The representatives include officials from Iraq's neighbors, the permanent members of the U.N. Security Council and other countries.
On Thursday, the Iraqi government and the United Nations will launch the International Compact with Iraq that deals with mostly economic issues. Then on Friday, officials will discuss Iraq's security and political reconciliation efforts.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the situation in Iraq will help determine whether the Middle East is stable or unstable. She met with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki shortly after her arrival at Sharm el-Sheikh today (Wednesday).
She also said she would be ready to discuss issues beside Iraq with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki if they encounter each other. Rice is also expected to talk with Syrian officials during the conference.
