베네수엘라 정부는 1일 베네수엘라 동부 오리노코 강 지역에서 외국업체들이 운영하고 있는 유전사업 4개의 운영권을 회수했습니다.
이번 회수 조치는 우고 차베스 베네수엘라 대통령이 자국의 에너지 자원을 국유화하려는 계획의 일환입니다. 이로써 베네수엘라의 국영석유회사인 PDVSA는 현재 6개의 국제석유업체들이 장악하고 있는 4개 유전 사업의 지분 60%를 점하게 됩니다.
베네수엘라 정부는 외국 업체들과 계속 협상을 벌여 수십억 달러에 달하는 이들의 유전사업 지분과 이번 인수에 따른 보상금의 규모를 결정할 것이라고 말했습니다.

Venezuela's government takes control of four oil projects along the Orinoco River today (Tuesday) from their foreign operators.
The move is part of a plan by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to nationalize the country's energy assets. Venezuelan oil workers are expected to attend events today celebrating the takeovers.
Venezuela's state-owned oil company (PDVSA) will take a 60-percent stake in the projects, which are currently controlled by six international oil companies (Chevron, ExxonMobil, BP, Statoil, Total and ConocoPhillips).
Venezuela's government says it will continue talks with all the oil companies to determine their shareholdings in the projects - which are worth billions of dollars - and how much compensation they will receive for the transfer.
Some industry experts say the Venezuelan state oil company may have production and safety problems operating the sites without support from the foreign companies.
