Authorities in Japan say two children missing since the early 1970s have been added to the list of people believed to have been abducted by North Korean agents.
Investigators say the six-year-old girl (Ko Kyomi) and her three-year-old brother (Ko Gang) were abducted from their home near Tokyo in 1973.
Officials from Japan's National Police agency say the children were kept in captivity in Tokyo for six months before being sent to North Korea in 1974.
The children were born to a Japanese mother and a North Korean father, who officials say operated a spy agency.
North Korea has admitted to 13 such kidnappings. Five of the abductees were allowed to return to Japan in 2002. Pyongyang says the rest have died. Japan says there were at least 17 kidnappings.
