교전은 수니 거주지인 파드힐 지역에서 벌어졌으며, 공격용 헬리콥터의 공중 지원을 받은 미군과 이라크군이 저항세력을 공격했습니다.
미군 당국은 두 대의 헬리콥터가 공격을 받았으나, 작전을 마치고 무사히 귀환했다고 말했습니다.
이와 별도로 바그다드 주변에서는 2건의 폭탄 테러로 최소한 21명이 숨지고 40명이 부상을 입었다고, 이라크 경찰이 밝혔습니다.
경찰에 따르면 수니파 거주지인 묵다디야의 경찰관 모집 장소에서 여성 테러리스트가 자폭했고, 이로 인해 최소한 16명이 죽고 33명이 부상을 입었습니다.
한편 미군 당국은 9일 하룻동안 미군 4명이 전사했다고 밝혔습니다.

Iraqi police say at least six people were killed and at least 13 wounded, as U.S. and Iraqi forces backed by attack helicopters fought gunmen today (Tuesday) in Baghdad.
The fierce fighting took place in the Sunni neighborhood of Fadhil.
The U.S. military says two of its helicopters came under fire but returned safely to base.
Separately, Iraqi police say at least 21 people were killed and about 40 others wounded in two separate bombings in Baghdad and a town northeast of the capital.
Police say one attack took place in the mostly Sunni town of Muqdadiya, where a female suicide bomber blew herself up outside a police recruitment center, killing at least 16 people and wounding 33.
Also today, the U.S. military announced the deaths of four American soldiers killed in Iraq on Monday.
