미국 정부가 중국과의 무역 분쟁과 관련해서, 더욱 견고한 입장을 밝혔습니다.
수잔 스왑 미국 무역대표부 대표는 9일 중국에 대해서 세계무역기구에 두 건의 추가 제소를 할 것이라고 말했습니다. 제소 내용에는 중국에서 이뤄지고 있는 미국산 제품의 불법 복제와 중국 정부가 미국산 책과 음악, 영화에 내린 판매 금지 조치가 포함됐습니다.
스왑 대표는 미국산 제품에 대한 불법 복제는 ‘용납할 수 없는 수준’이며, 매년 미국 영화산업에 수십억 달러 규모의 피해를 끼치고 있다고 말했습니다.
세계무역기구 규정에 따르면 양국은 앞으로 60일간 합의를 이끌어내야 합니다. 합의가 이뤄지지 않으면 미국은 중재재판을 요청할 수 있습니다.
이보다 앞서 미국은 지난 2월에도 중국 정부가 일부 종이 제품에 대해 부당한 지원을 함으로써, 미국 제품보다 가격 경쟁력을 유지한다는 입장을 밝힌 바 있습니다.

Washington toughened its stance on trade issues with China today (Monday). U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab says the United States is filing two new cases at the World Trade Organization regarding illegal Chinese copying of U.S. products and Chinese restrictions on sale of U.S. books, music, and movies in China.
Schwab said piracy and counterfeiting of U.S. products is "unacceptably high" and costs U.S. firms billions of dollars each year.
Under WTO rules, the two sides have 60 days to work out an agreement on the issue.
If no agreement is reached, then Washington can ask for arbitration.
Today's action follows a complaint in February that China was subsidizing certain paper products which gave them an unfair price advantage over U.S. made products.
