아흐마디네자드 대통령은 31일 영국 수병들이 이란 영해에 불법적으로 들어왔다는 이란 정부의 주장을 되풀이하면서 영국 정부가 이에 대해 사과나 유감 표명을 거부하는 것을 비난했습니다.
영국의 마가렛 베케트 외무장관은 영국 정부는 이란의 영국 수병 억류로 빚어진 위기를 평화적으로, 그리고 가능한 한 빨리 해결되기를 바란다고 밝혔습니다.
베케트 장관은 영국은 이란에 억류돼 있는 15명의 수병과 해병들이 억류돼 있는 장소와 이들에게 접근할 수 있는지에 관해 얘기를 듣기를 바란다고 말했습니다.
영국은 이 수병들이 많은 수의 이란 혁명수비대들이 이들을 덮쳤을 때, 이라크 수역내에 있었다고 말했습니다.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has criticized Britain's position in a standoff over Tehran's seizure of 15 British naval personnel.
Mr. Ahmadinejad today (Saturday) repeated his government's claim that the Britons illegally entered Iranian waters. He scolded Britain for refusing to apologize or express regret for the situation.
British Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett today said her government wants the crisis with Iran resolved peacefully and as soon as possible. She said London wants to be told where the sailors and marines are being held, and it wants access to them.
Britain says the naval personnel were in Iraqi waters when they were overwhelmed by a larger force from Iran's Revolutionary Guards. Tehran says they illegally entered Iranian waters when they were picked up in the disputed Shatt al-Arab waterway between Iran and Iraq.
