양측은 북아일랜드의 신구교 행정부 구성에 합의하기 위해 영국 정부가 정한 시한을 겨우 지켰습니다. 영국 정부는 26일 자정까지 합의를 이루지 못할 경우 북아일랜드 의회를 해산할 것이라고 경고한 바 있습니다.

Protestant and Catholic political leaders in Northern Ireland have announced a deal to form a power-sharing government on May eighth.
The breakthrough, announced today (Monday) in Belfast, came after the first-ever face-to-face talks between Protestant leader Ian Paisley and Catholic Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams.
The bitter foes, who previously negotiated through third parties, met just hours ahead of a British deadline for the formation of a provincial government.
London had threatened to dissolve the recently-elected power-sharing Northern Ireland assembly and impose direct rule, if a deal was not reached by midnight today (Monday).
The power-sharing government is part of the 1998 Good Friday Peace Accords. It was suspended in 2002 when Protestants accused the Irish Republican Army of spying. The spying charges were dropped in 2005.
