야당들은 헌법에 테러퇴치법을 추가하는 것은 이집트의 기본 자유에서 후퇴하는 것이며 집권당의 권력을 강화시킬 것이라고 주장하고 있습니다.
라이스 장관과 회담을 마친 이집트의 아흐메드 아불 게이트 외무장관은 국가 안보는 이집트 스스로의 책임이라고 말하면서 현재 제안된 헌법 개정안을 옹호했습니다.
라이스 장관은 또한 이집트 관계관들과 중동 현안들에 대해 논의하고 이스라엘과 팔레스타인간 평화 과정에 대한 이집트의 지지에 대해 고마움을 표했습니다.

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has met with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak for talks on democracy in Egypt and regional issues.
The two met in the southern Egyptian city of Aswan today (Sunday), a day before Egyptians vote in a controversial referendum on constitutional changes.
Rice voiced concern about Monday's referendum and said the process of reform is difficult.
Opposition groups say putting the anti-terror laws in the constitution would be a setback for basic freedoms in Egypt and strengthen the ruling party's grip on power.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit, who also met with Rice, defended the proposed laws, saying Egypt's security is its own responsibility.
Rice also discussed regional issues with the Egyptian officials and said she appreciates Egypt's support in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
