반기문 유엔 사무총장은 새로운 팔레스타인 연립정부가 이 지역의 평화와 안보에 대한 국제사회의 요구를 충족시킬 것을 촉구했습니다.
반기문 총장은 24일 카이로에서 호스니 무바라크 이집트 대통령과 아랍연맹의 아므르 무싸 사무총장과 회담을 마친 후에 이같이 밝혔습니다.
반기문 총장은 무바라크 대통령과의 회담에서 새로운 팔레스타인 연립정부 구성 뒤 현재 진행중인 평화과정을 독려할 필요성에 관해 논의했습니다.
경쟁적인 팔레스타인의 경쟁적인 하마스와 파타당은 아직도 이스라엘을 인정하고, 폭력을 포기하라는 국제적인 요구를 충족시키지 못하고 있습니다.
반기문 총장은 또한 예살렘에서 이스라엘의 에후드 올메르트 총리와 회담할 예정니다.
카이로는 반기문 총장의 중동순방의 두번째 기착지였습니다. 반 총장은 레바논을 방문하고, 사우디 아라비아에서 열리는 아랍연맹 정상회의에 참석할 예정입니다.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has urged the new Palestinian coalition government to meet the international community's demands for peace and security in the region.
Mr. Ban spoke today (Saturday) in Cairo, after meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and the head of the Arab League, Amr Moussa.
The U.N. secretary general said he discussed with Mr. Mubarak the need to encourage the ongoing peace process following the formation of the new Palestinian government.
The coalition of rival Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah has not yet met international demands to recognize Israel and renounce violence.
Mr. Ban also is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in Jerusalem and with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the Palestinian territories.
