이란의 아야톨라 알리 하메네이 최고 지도자는 이란이 외부의 공격에 대해 자국을 방어하기 위해 모든 능력을 다 사용할 것이라고 경고했습니다.
하메네이 최고 지도자는 21일, 전국에 방송된 연설을 통해 만약 미국과 다른 나라들이 이란을 위협하고 회유하며 폭력으로 대하려 한다면 이란은 적들에 공격에 대응할 것이라면서 이같이 경고했습니다. 하메네이는 최고 지도자는 또 이란의 핵개발 활동은 국제적 규제에 부응해 이루어져 왔다면서 유엔 안전보장 이사회의 어떤 조치가 취해지더라도 이란은 핵개발 활동을 계속해 나갈 것이라고 다짐했습니다.
한편, 유엔 안전보장 이사회의 거부권을 지닌 상임 이사국인 러시아의 세르게이 라브로프 외무장관은 러시아 하원에서 러시아는 이란의 우라늄 농축활동 중단을 촉구한 유엔 안보리 결의를 거부한 것에 대해 이란에 과도한 제재조치를 가하는 것을 지지하지 않을 것이라고 말했습니다.

Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has warned that his country will use all its capabilities to defend itself against an attack.
Mr. Khamenei said in a national address today (Wednesday) that if the United States and others want to threaten Iran and enforce coercion and violence, then Iran will respond to an attack by enemies.
He also is quoted as saying that Iran's nuclear activities have been in accordance with international regulations, and that Tehran will continue those actions, despite any action by the U.N. Security Council.
The Council is discussing a draft resolution on toughening existing sanctions against Iran for the country's failure to suspend uranium enrichment.
Earlier today, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the Russian parliament that Moscow will not support what he described as excessive U.N. sanctions against Iran for its refusal to suspend enrichment.
