원 총리는 중국의 부패가 날로 심각해지고 있으며, 고위 공직자들에게 권력이 집중되는 현상을 줄여야 한다고 지적했습니다.
국방과 관련해서는 중국 군대는 자국 방위만을 목적으로 한다고 강조했습니다. 원 총리는 이어 중국은 우주 공간을 평화적으로 이용할 것이라고 말했습니다. 중국은 지난 1월 인공위성 요격 실험을 실시한 바 있습니다.
지역 문제와 관련해서 원 총리는 일본과의 관계 개선을 위해 4월에 일본을 방문할 것이라고 말했습니다. 지난해 10월 아베 신조 일본 총리의 중국 방문이 양국 관계의 얼음을 깨는 것이었다면, 자신의 방문은 얼음을 녹이는 기회가 되기를 희망한다고 원자바오 총리는 말했습니다.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao held his annual news conference today (Friday) in Beijing, where he discussed such issues as the country's growing economy and regional concerns.
Mr. Wen said corruption in China is worsening, and must be addressed by reducing the concentration of power among high-ranking officials.
On military issues, Mr. Wen said China's military is for defensive purposes only. He also insisted China is committed to the peaceful use of outer space. China tested a satellite-destroying weapon in January.
On regional issues, Mr. Wen said he wants his visit to Japan in April to help warm relations between the two countries. He said that if Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's trip to China last October was an "ice-breaking" visit, then he hopes his trip to Japan will be "ice-thawing".
