한국이 축산분뇨를 이용한 새로운 대체 에너지 생산을 시작했습니다. 한국의 산업자원부는 14일 경기도 이천시에 하루 20t의 축산분뇨를 처리해 30 킬로와트의 전력을 생산할 수 있는 바이오가스 열병합 발전설비가 가동에 들어갔다고 말했습니다.
산업자원부 관리는 올해 이같은 발전설비를 3곳 더 짓고 오는 2008년까지 10곳에서 20곳으로 늘릴 계획이라고 말했습니다.
산업자원부는 바이오가스 열병합 발전설비는 환경친화적인 재생가능한 에너지원을 확보하기위한 한국 정부 노력의 일환이라고 설명했습니다.

South Korean officials say the country has opened an electric power plant fueled by animal waste.
They say the 30-kilowatt facility in Icheon, (Gyeonggi province) southeast of Seoul, can process 20 tons of farm animal waste a day.
An energy ministry official (Choi Byung-Dal) says South Korea plans to build three more of the power plants this year, and is pushing for 10 to 20 plants in 2008.
The government says the plants are part of its efforts to create environmentally friendly, reusable energy sources.
The energy official says countries such as Denmark and Germany have been successful in generating electric power from farm animal excrement.
