이란의 마흐무드 아흐마디네자드 대통령은 핵 활동을 중단하라는 국제사회의 요구를 거듭 거부했습니다.
아흐마디네자드 대통령은 20일 이란 북부 질란주를 방문해 군중에게 연설하면서, 다른 나라들이 중단하지 않는 한 우라늄 농축활동을 계속할 것이라고 말했습니다.
아흐마디네자드 대통령은 또한 이란은 아무런 조건없이 핵 회담을 재개할 준비가 돼있다고 거듭 밝혔습니다.
이같은 아흐마디네자드 대통령의 발언은 유엔 안전보장이사회가 정한 우라늄 농축활동 중단시한을 하루 앞두고 나왔습니다.
유엔 안보리는 이란이 2월 21일까지 우라늄 농축활동을 중단하지 않는다면 제재조치를 확대할지 모른다고 말했습니다.

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has again rejected international demands to halt its nuclear activities.
Addressing a crowd in northern Iran (Gilan province) today (Tuesday), Mr. Ahmadinejad said Iran will not halt its uranium enrichment program unless other nations do the same.
He also repeated Iran's stance that it remains ready to resume nuclear talks without any conditions.
The Iranian leader's remarks come a day before a U.N. Security Council deadline (February 21st) for Iran to stop enriching uranium or face possible further sanctions. The Council imposed economic sanctions last year, after Iran failed to meet an earlier U.N. deadline.
Meanwhile, Iranian officials say the country's top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani is due meet with the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohamed ElBaradei, in Vienna today (Tuesday).
The IAEA would not confirm that a meeting was planned.
The IAEA is expected to issue a report later this week confirming that Iran has defied a Security Council order to suspend its uranium enrichment program.
