미국의 콘돌리자 라이스 국무장관은 13일 북한과의 핵 합의가 이란에 국제협력이 이루어낼 수 있는 힘에 관한 하나의 메시지가 될 것이라고 말했습니다.
라이스 장관은 미국과 중국, 러시아, 일본, 남한과 북한의 6자회담이 드디어 합의점을 도출해냈다고 말했습니다. 이란은 이제 국가들이 평화를 증진하기 위해 협력하면 어떤 결과를 이루어낼 수 있는지를 알게 됐을 것이라고 라이스 장관은 말했습니다.
그러나 미국의 존 볼튼 전 유엔 대사는 북한과의 합의가 이란 같은 나라들에 정확히 잘못된 신호를 보낼 수도 있다고 지적했습니다.
볼튼 씨는 이번 합의가 앞으로 핵강대국이 되려는 국가들은 그들이 끝까지 버티면 결국 보상을 받아낼 수 있다는 것으로 잘못 해석될 수도 있다고 말했습니다.

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says the nuclear agreement with North Korea should serve as a message to Iran about the strength of international cooperation.
Rice said the six-party talks (between the U.S., China, Russia, Japan and the two Koreas) have achieved results. She said Iran should understand the accord shows how states can work together to enhance peace.
However, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton, said the North Korea deal sends "exactly the wrong signal" to countries like Iran. He said the message of the deal is that would-be nuclear powers will be rewarded if they hold out long enough.
Earlier (in an interview with the American television network ABC) in Tehran, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad repeated that his country was ready to negotiate on its nuclear program.
