북한의 핵무기 개발 계획을 종식시키기 위해 중국 베이징에서 연나흘째 협상을 벌인 6자 회담의 협상 대표들은 합의를 도출해 내기 위해 12일 하루 더 만날 것이라고 말하고 있습니다.
베이징에서 11일 미국측 협상 대표인 크리스토퍼 힐 국무부 동아시아 태평양 담당 차관보는 북한이 에너지 지원과 관련해 너무 과다한 요구를 하고 있는 문제를 둘러싸고 6자 회담은 계속 교착 상태에 빠져 있다고 말했습니다.
11일 늦게까지 협상대표들은 6자 회담에서 아직까지 아무런 진전이 이루어지지 않고 있다고 전했습니다.
협상 대표들은 북한이 핵계획을 포기하는 대가로 연간 2백만 톤의 원유와 2백만 킬로와트의 전력 공급을 요구함으로써 6자 회담이 방해를 받고 있다고 말했습니다.
앞서 일본측 수석대표인 사사에 겐이치로 외무성 아시아대양주 국방은 북한이 그들의 요구를 재고하지 않을 경우 이번 회담에서 합의가 이루어지기는 어려울 것이라고 말했습니다.

The top U.S. envoy to six-party talks aimed at ending North Korea's nuclear weapons program says negotiators will meet one more time Monday to try to salvage a deal.
Speaking in Beijing Sunday, U.S. envoy Christopher Hill said the talks are deadlocked over what he and other envoys say are excessive North Korean demands for energy assistance if it scraps its nuclear program.
The talks, involving host China, the two Koreas, the United States, Japan and Russia, began Thursday with China circulating a draft accord on a potential deal.
By late Sunday, envoys meeting with the North Korean delegation said there had been no progress.
