바그다드에서 트럭 폭탄이 터져 적어도 121명이 숨지고 225명이 다쳤다고 이라크 경찰이 3일 밝혔습니다.
이 트럭은 주로 시아파 거주지역인 사드리야의 사람들로 붐비는 한 식품 시장에서 폭발했습니다.
시장 일대에서는 폭발로 인한 매연의 버섯구름이 피어올랐으며, 시장의 노점과 상점들이 파괴됐습니다.
이날 이라크의 북부도시 키르쿠크에서 일어난 일련의 차량폭탄 폭발로 적어도 4명이 숨지고, 40여명이 다쳤습니다. 또 폭탄 한개가 이라크의 쿠르드 자치지역 지도자인 마쏘우드 바르자니의 쿠르드민주당 사무실 부근에서 터졌다고 경찰이 말했습니다.
이밖에도 이라크 북부 사마라 지역에서 저항세력들이 4명의 경찰 특공대를 사살했다고 당국이 밝혔습니다.
이 공격들은 이라크의 시아파 성직자 아야톨라 알리 알-시스타니가 종파간 폭력의 종식과 회교도들의 단결을 호소하는 가운데 일어났습니다.
또 다른 소식으로 이날 연합군은 이라크의 외국인 무장세력들과 알-카에다 요원들을 겨냥한 기습작전에서 4명의 테러분자들을 사살하고, 29명의 테러 용의자들을 구금했다고 미군이 밝혔습니다.

Iraqi police say a suicide truck bombing in Baghdad has killed 121 people and wounded more than 225 others in the bloodiest attack in the capital this year.
The truck exploded today (Saturday) in a busy market in a mainly Shi'ite area of the city (Sadriyah). The blast sent plumes of smoke into the air and destroyed market stalls and shops.
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki blamed the bombing on Sunni loyalists of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.
In Iraq's northern oil city of Kirkuk, a series of car bombings killed at least four people and wounded nearly 40.
Police say one of the bombs went off near the Kurdish Democratic Party offices of Massoud Barzani, leader of Iraq's autonomous Kurdish region.
Elsewhere in northern Iraq, authorities say insurgents shot dead four police commandos in the town of Samarra.
The attacks came as Iraq's top Shi'ite cleric, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, appealed for an end to sectarian conflict and called for Muslim unity.
