러시아 외무부 대변인은 26일 유럽에 미사일 요격 시스템을 건설하는 것은 국제 안보에 부정적인 결과를 가져올 것이라고 말했습니다.
그는 미사일 요격 프로그램이 러시아를 겨냥한 것이 아니라는 미국의 주장에도 불구하고 러시아는 미국이 유럽 주둔 미군에 끊임없이 이른바 “전략적 요소”를 더해가는 것을 목격해 왔다고 지적했습니다.
미국은 이란과 북한의 미래 장거리 미사일 위협에 대응하기 위해 폴랜드와 체코공화국에 미사일 방어 기지를 건설하기를 원한다고 말하고 있습니다.
하지만 러시아는 이란과 북한은 유럽에 도달할 만한 미사일 공격 능력을 가지고 있지 않다고 주장하고 있습니다.

Russia says U.S. plans to set up a missile defense system in central Europe is a "mistake."
A Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman said today (Friday) creating an anti-missile defense system in Europe will have "negative consequences for international security."
He says despite U.S. arguments that its interceptor missiles program would not be directed against Russia, Moscow has noticed what he called a "strategic component" consistently added to the U.S. armed forces in Europe.
The United States says it wants to have missile defense sites in Poland and the Czech Republic to counter a possible long-range Iranian and North Korean missile threat in the future.
Russia argues that Iran and North Korea do not have missiles capable of striking Europe.
