이란의 고람호세인 엘함 정부 대변인은 23일 테헤란에서 이란은 유엔 산하 핵 사찰 기구인 국제 원자력 기구 (IAEA) 와 아무런 문제가 없다고 기자들에게 말했습니다.
엘함 대변인은 IAEA 사찰관 38명의 입국을 금지시키기로 한 22일의 정부발표와 관련해 사찰관들을 조회하는 것은 모든 나라 정부의 합법적인 권리라고 말했습니다.
엘함 대변인은 이번 조치는 통상적이고 합법적인 결정이라고 말했습니다.
IAEA는 이란의 핵 활동을 감시할 사찰관들이 충분히 많이 있다고 말했습니다.
이란의 이같은 움직임은 이란이 우라늄 농축활동을 중단하길 거부함에 따라 지난 달 유엔 안전보장이사회가 이란에 대한 제재 결의안을 채택한데 뒤이은 것입니다.
미국 국무부는 이란이 사찰관 38명의 입국을 금지한 것은 국제사회에 대해 반항적인 태도를 보이는 것이라고 비판했습니다.

Iran says it will continue cooperating with United Nations nuclear inspectors, despite barring 38 of them from entering the country.
A government spokesman (Gholamhossein Elham) told reporters in Tehran today (Tuesday) that Iran has "no problem" with the International Atomic Energy Agency (I.A.E.A).
Referring to Monday's announcement barring 38 I.A.E.A inspectors, the spokesman said "it is the legitimate right of all governments to screen inspectors." He added that it was a routine and legal decision.
The I.A.E.A. says there are still a sufficient number of inspectors to monitor Iran's nuclear activities.
The Iranian move follows a U.N. Security Council resolution last month imposing sanctions on Tehran because it refuses to suspend uranium enrichment.
In Washington, the U.S. State Department deplored what it called Iran's "defiant attitude toward the international community."
