베트남 동물보건 담당 부서는 18일, 칸 타오 시에서 30마리의 오리가 H5N1형 조류독감 바이러스에 감염돼 죽었다고 말했습니다.
베트남에서는 2005년 말 이후 조류독감 인간 발병 사례가 나오지 않고 있지만, 지난 달부터 메콩강 삼각주 지역의 가금류 농장들에서 H5N1형 바이러스가 다시 나타나고 있습니다.

Officials in Vietnam have confirmed an eighth outbreak of bird flu among poultry in the country's southern Mekong Delta region.
The Department of Animal Health said today (Thursday) that 30 ducklings in the city of Can Tho died from the deadly H5N1 strain of the virus.
Vietnam has had no human cases of bird flu since late 2005, but the virus re-emerged on poultry farms in the Mekong Delta last month. The disease has killed or forced the slaughter of tens of thousands of birds.
The H5N1 strain has killed more than 150 people worldwide, mainly in Asia, since 2003. Experts fear the virus could mutate into a form easily passed between people.
At 42 deaths, Vietnam is second only to Indonesia in the number of human bird flu fatalities.
