당국은 이번 공격이 상징적인 행동으로 그리스에서 테러활동을 재개하려는 시도로 보고 있다고 폴리도라스 장관은 말했습니다.
당국은 공격자들이 대사관 건물 건너편의 공사장에서 로케트포를 발사한 것으로 믿고 있다고 말했습니다.
이날 폭발로 건물 인근의 일부 유리창들이 부서졌습니다.
그리스의 도라 바코야니스 외무장관은 이날 미국 대사관으로 찰스 리스 대사를 방문해 이번 공격을 비난했습니다. 미국 대사관은 이번 공격을 무분별한 폭력행동이라고 말했습니다.
션 매코맥 미 국무부 대변인은 미국과 그리스 당국은 이 사건의 범인들을 찾아내기 위해 긴밀히 협력하고 있다고 말했습니다.

Greek Public Order Minister Vyron Polydoras says police are investigating a claim of responsibility on behalf of the Greek left-wing extremist group, Revolutionary Struggle. He says authorities believe the attack on Friday was a symbolic act, and an attempt at reviving terrorist activity in Greece.
Authorities say they believe the assailants fired the explosive from a construction site directly across the street from the main embassy building. The early morning blast shattered some windows of nearby buildings.
Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis met U.S. Ambassador Charles Ries at the embassy and condemned the attack. The American ambassador described the attack as "a senseless act of violence."
In Washington, a State Department spokesman (Sean McCormack) said U.S. and Greek authorities are cooperating in efforts to determine who is responsible for the incident.
