Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has met with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao during a visit to Beijing aimed at boosting economic ties and gathering support for sanctions against Iran.
Members of the Israeli delegation say discussing the threat of Iran's nuclear program is at the top of Mr. Olmert's agenda. He is scheduled to meet Chinese President Hu Jintao Thursday, at the end of his three-day visit.
Israel and several Western countries accuse Iran of seeking nuclear weapons. Tehran says its nuclear activities are for peaceful purposes.
As a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, China has opposed tough sanctions against Iran, despite Tehran's refusal to suspend uranium enrichment as demanded by the Council.
Last month, the Council passed a resolution imposing sanctions, but some elements of the measure were weakened to allow for passage.
