최근 아시아 지역에서 발생한 2명의 사망은 치명적인 H5N1 조류독감 바이러스 때문인 것으로 의심된다고 아시아의 보건 관리들이 밝혔습니다.
홍콩 정부 관리들은 닭을 도살해 파는 시장에 자주 드나들던 32살 남성이 조류독감 증세를 보인 뒤 중국 본토 광저우에서 2일 사망했다고 말했습니다.
관리들은 또 인도네시아의 중부자바 주에서는 3살 난 소년이 H5N1 조류독감 바이러스로 인해 사망한 것으로 조사 결과 밝혀졌다고 말했습니다. 홍콩과 인도네시아 관리들은 이들의 표본을 홍콩에 있는 세계보건기구 실험실로 보냈습니다.
중국에서는 조류독감 사망자가 확인된 사례만 8명에 이르며 인도네시아에서도 20명이 H5N1 바이러스로 인해 사망했습니다.

Hong Kong officials say a 32-year-old man who frequently visited markets where chickens were slaughtered died Thursday in Guangzhou on mainland China after showing symptoms of bird flu.
In Indonesia, officials said today that local tests show a three-year-old boy has died of the deadly H5N1 virus in Central Java province.
Officials in both countries have sent samples to a World Health Organization-sanctioned laboratory in Hong Kong for confirmation that the pair had bird flu.
China has already had eight known deaths from the disease, while 20 people have died from H5N1 in Indonesia. More than 90 people have died from the disease worldwide.
