미군이 주도하는 아프가니스탄 주둔 연합군은 오사마 빈 라덴의 측근이자 아프가니스탄 남부 탈레반군의 지도자인 물라 아크타르 모하마드 오스마니를 살해했습니다.
연합군은 신뢰할 만한 정보에 의존해 헬만드 주의 오스마니의 소재지를 파악하게 됐다고 23일 성명에서 밝혔습니다.
이 성명은 오스마니와 신원이 확인되지않은 동료 두 명이 지난 19일 사막지대에서 자동차를 타고 이동하던 중 연합군의 공습을 받고 즉사했다고 설명했습니다.
그러나 유세프 아흐마디 탈레반 대변인은 이를 부인했습니다. 아흐마디 대변인은 공습으로 숨진 사람들은 하급 탈레반 지휘관인 물라 압둘 자히르와 다른 탈레반 단원 세명이라며 오스마니는 아직 아프가니스탄에 생존해 있다고 말했습니다.
연합군 관계자들은 오스마니가 우루주간과 님로즈, 칸다하, 파라, 헤라트, 헬만드 주 등 아프가니스탄 남부 탈레반군의 책임자였다고 말했습니다.

U.S.-led coalition forces in southern Afghanistan say they have killed a senior Taleban leader who was a close associate of .
A coalition statement today (Saturday) said credible intelligence led coalition forces to Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Osmani in Helmand Province, near the border with Pakistan. The statement said an air strike killed Osmani and two unidentified associates instantly last Tuesday as their vehicle traveled in a deserted area.
However, a Taleban spokesman (Yousef Ahmadi) denied the report. He said the airstrike instead killed a low-ranking Taleban commander (Mullah Abdul Zahir) and three other Taleban fighters. The spokesman said Osmani is still alive and in Afghanistan.
Coalition officials say Osmani was the Taleban's chief of military operations in the provinces of Uruzgan, Nimroz, Kandahar, Farah, Herat and Helmand.
