British Prime Minister Tony Blair is in Turkey, the first stop of a Middle East tour aimed at reviving the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
Mr. Blair was expected late Friday to meet with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss Middle East issues and Turkey's hope for joining the European Union.
The two leaders plan to hold a press conference today (Saturday).
Mr. Blair's office has not announced the other locations he will visit on his tour for security reasons.
Prime Minister Blair left for Turkey Friday from Brussels, where he was attending a European Union summit. At the summit, EU leaders urged Syria to stop interfering in Lebanon's affairs, and noted what they called the negative impact of Iranian policies on the stability and security of the Middle East.
