‘우의-2006’ 군사훈련은 중국의 후진타오 국가주석이 파키스탄과의 전략적 관계를 새로운 단계로 끌어올릴 것을 약속한 지 이주 만에 시작됐습니다.
중국은 파키스탄의 최대 무기 제공국이고 양국은 전투기를 공동 개발하고 있습니다. 중국은 또 파키스탄에 주요 산업.경제적 지원을 제공하고 있습니다.
한편, 파키스탄은 중국 서부 신지앙 지방에서 회교 분리주의자들의 위협에 대처하는데 중국 정부를 돕고 있습니다.

Pakistan and China are holding joint military exercises in Pakistan's northern mountainous region focused on combating terrorism.
The 10-day exercise is dubbed "Friendship 2006". Pakistan's military has issued a statement, saying the joint maneuvers will benefit the two neighbors in planning and conducting anti-terror operations.
The exercise comes just two weeks after Chinese President Hu Jintao pledged to take strategic ties with Pakistan to a "new level." China is Pakistan's largest arms supplier and the two are jointly developing a fighter jet.
China is also providing major industrial and economic assistance. Islamabad, meanwhile, is helping Beijing deal with the perceived threat of Muslim separatists in China's western Xinjiang region bordering Pakistan.
