웬디 커틀러 미국 수석협상 대표는 8일, 미국 몬태나 주에서 열렸던 제5차 협상을 마치면서, 자동차와 의약품 두 분야가 실망스럽다고 말했습니다.
커틀러 대표는 미국은 미국 자동차 업체들이 공정한 경쟁을 할 수 있도록 만들 결의로 있다고 말했습니다. 미국은 한국이 미국산 자동차에 대한 규제들을 철폐하기를 원하고 있습니다.
커틀러 대표는 또한 한국의 새로운 의약품 규정안도 중대하게 우려되는 분야라고 말했습니다.
커틀러 대표는 한미 양국이 내년 1월15일 한국에서 제6차 협상을 시작할 것이라고 말하면서, 아직도 협상 타결이 가능한 것으로 믿고 있다고 덧붙였습니다.

The United States says U.S. and South Korean negotiators made progress during talks this week on a free trade agreement, but major hurdles remain.
The chief U.S. negotiator (Wendy Cutler) said at the conclusion of a fifth round of negotiations on Friday (in the U.S. state of Montana) that two areas -- automobiles and pharmaceuticals -- have been disappointing.
She said the United States is determined to level the playing field for U.S. automakers. The United States wants South Korea to eliminate restrictions placed on American auto exports to South Korea.
Cutler also said a dispute over proposed new pharmaceutical regulations in South Korea is an area of what she called "grave concern."
She said the two sides will hold another round of negotiations the week of January 15 in South Korea. She said she still believes a deal is possible.
