Officials in Afghanistan say a suicide bomber detonated his car near a NATO-led convoy in the southern city of Kandahar today (Sunday), killing three civilians.
Witnesses say several civilians were wounded when troops opened fire after suicide the attack.
A NATO spokesman (Major Luke Knitting) said troops only used their weapons after another suspicious vehicle neared the convoy.
Earlier today, a purported Taleban spokesman said insurgents shot down a NATO-chartered helicopter Saturday with a ground-to-air rocket.
