석유수출국기구 OPEC이 석유생산국인 앙골라와 수단, 에콰도르를 새 회원국으로 받아들이기로 결정했다고 한 대변인이 말했습니다.
이들 3나라가 OPEC에 가입하기를 원한다는 보도가 잇따르고 있는 가운데, 오마르 파루크 이브라힘 (Omar Farouk Ibrahim) 오펙 대변인은 30일 이같이 밝혔습니다. 이브라힘 대변인은 그러나 OPEC은 이들 3나라 정부로 부터 공식 회원 가입 신청서를아직 접수하지 않았다고 말했습니다.

A spokesman for the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries says OPEC would welcome oil-producers Angola, Sudan, and, Ecuador as members.
News reports say Angola, Sudan, and Ecuador want to join the oil cartel, but a spokesman (Omar Farouk Ibrahim) says OPEC has not yet received any official application from those governments.
OPEC already controls about 40 percent of the world's oil, and more members would increase that share. Some analysts say controlling a larger share of the world's oil could increase the cartel's power to set oil prices.
Angola is sub-saharan Africa's second largest oil producer (at one-point-four million barrels per day) and its government says it wants to join early next year.
OPEC members say they will consider cutting production quotas at a meeting next month in a bid to keep oil prices from falling.
