유엔의 새 보고서는, 10월중 3천 7백 9명의 민간인이 사망했고, 이는 지금까지 가장 많은 사망자가 발생했던 7월의 3천 5백 90명보다 더 늘어난 것이라고 지적했습니다. 보고서는 종파별 유혈 폭력 사태가 사망의 가장 큰 원인이라고 지적했습니다.
한편 부시 미국 대통령과 누리 알 말리키 이라크 총리는 이라크 안정화 문제를 논의하기 위해 다음주 요르단에서 회동할 계획입니다.

The United Nations says the number of civilians killed in Iraq reached a new high in October.
A new report says three-thousand-709 civilians were killed last month, up from the previous high of three-thousand-590 in July. The report says sectarian violence was the main cause of the deaths.
Meanwhile, President Bush and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki plan to meet next week in Jordan to discuss improving the security situation in Iraq.
In a joint statement, the two reiterated their commitment to building a peaceful, democratic and secure Iraq, and to strengthening their bilateral partnership.
