지난 3월 이라크에서 14세 소녀 한명을 강간하고 그 가족들을 살해한 혐의로 군법 재판에 회부됐던 미군 병사가 15일 유죄를 선고받습니다.
제임스 바커 특별관은 켄터키주의 포트 켐벨 군법 재판소에서 강간, 살해 방화등 여러가지 혐의에 대해 유죄판결을 받을 예정입니다.
바커는 당시 사건과 관련해 공식 처벌을 받게되는 첫번째 미군입니다. 바커씨의 변호인은 바커씨가 사형선고를 면하기 위한 조건으로 다른 병사들의 혐의에 대해 증언할 예정이라고 말했습니다.바커씨는 최고 종신형에 처해질 수도 있습니다.

A U.S. soldier will plead guilty today (Wednesday) in connection with the rape and murder of a 14-year-old Iraqi girl and the killings of three members of her family in March of this year.
Specialist James P. Barker will plead guilty on several charges, including rape, murder and arson, before a military court in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He is the first soldier accused in the case to publicly take responsibility for the attack.
His lawyers say in addition to his guilty plea, he will also testify against other soldiers involved in the crime, in exchange for avoiding a possible death sentence. Barker could end up serving life in prison.
Four other members of Barker's company have been implicated in the attack, which occurred in the town of Mahmudiyah.
