Speaking live from a coffee shop in (the western state of) Colorado, the president said the latest drop in the U.S. unemployment rate and higher-than-predicted job growth figures are evidence that his tax cuts have helped the economy grow.
He said if Democrats take control of Congress, they will let those tax cuts expire.
Democratic Pennsylvania Congressional candidate Lois Murphy delivered the Democratic response,
saying the election was a clear choice between fear and a new direction for the country.
Democrats say Mr. Bush has ignored repeated calls for a change in his Iraq strategy. They say it is time for new leadership in Congress.
