미국과 일본은 북한의 핵실험에 대응하기 위한 제재조치들의 이행을 위해 공동협력하기로 합의했습니다.
미국의 콘돌리자 라이스 국무장관은 18일 도꾜에서 아소 타로 일본외상과 만나 유엔의 대북한 제재결의를 논의했습니다.
라이스 장관은 북한의 핵 실험은 받아들일 수 없는 행위로 북한이 국제사회에서 더욱 고립되도록 만들 뿐이라고 말했습니다.
라이스 장관은 또한 북한이 다른 나라나 단체에 핵 무기를 판매한다면 책임을 져야할 것이라고 경고했습니다.
라이스 장관은 동북 아시아 지역의 평화를 위해 노력할 것이며 특히 일본을 방어하겠다는 미국의 의지를 재확인했습니다. 라이스장관은 도꾜방문을 마치고 한국과 중국으로 향합니다.

The United States and Japan have pledged to work together to implement sanctions against North Korea after it tested a nuclear weapon last week.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met her Japanese counterpart Taro Aso in Tokyo (today/Wednesday) to discuss the U.N. Security Council sanctions.
Rice said North Korea's nuclear test was "unacceptable." But she added that Washington is not seeking to escalate the crisis.
Rice is to travel to South Korea and China this week for talks on implementing sanctions which mostly block trading weapons equipment with North Korea.
South Korea's government has welcomed the sanctions, but says it will continue two infrastructure projects in the North.
Japanese media reported a senior Chinese envoy (State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan) was in North Korea today for talks on the nuclear dispute.
