Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has had a second chance to air his foreign policy views in New York city.
The Iranian president, barred by the State Department from traveling outside the city during the U.N. General Assembly, accepted an invitation to answer questions from members of a prestigious New York think tank.
The New York Times, which reported Wednesday's meeting with members of the Council on Foreign Relations, said Mr. Ahmadinejad again questioned whether the Holocaust, as it has been described, really happened. And he ridiculed the demand by major powers that Iran give up enriching uranium.
He called on the United States to close down its own production of nuclear fuel. He said eventually Iran will be able to provide enriched uranium for nuclear power stations in the U.S.
Council President Richard Haass issued the invitation over the objection of U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
