버마국영 석유회사가 인도 및 러시아 회사들과 석유가스 생산 공유 계약을 체결했다고 버마 관영언론이 보도했습니다.
<미얀마의 새 빛> 신문은 17일 러시아의 이테라 석유가스 회사 및 인도의 선그룹과의 이번 협정으로 안다만 해역 모타마 만에서 석유가스 추출의 길이 열렸다고 전했습니다.
이번 협정은 지난 15일 버마에서 체결됐는데 러시아는 바로 이날 유엔 안전보장이사회에서 버마의 인권침해에 대해 조사해야 한다는 미국의 요청을 거부했습니다.
그러나 안보리는 러시아의 반대에도 불구하고 찬성 10표, 반대 4표, 기권 1표로 버마의 폭넓은 인권침해 주장에 대해 논의하기로 결정했습니다.

Official media say the country's state-run oil company has signed an oil and gas production-sharing contract with firms from India and Russia.
The New Light of Myanmar newspaper said today (Sunday) the deal with Russia's Itera Oil and Gas company and India's Sun Group clears the way for extracting oil and gas from the Gulf of Mottama in the Andaman sea.
The deal was signed in Burma on Friday, the same day Russia voted in the United Nations Security Council against a U.S. request to bring Burma before the Council to investigate its controversial human rights record.
Despite Moscow's opposition, the Security Council voted 10 to four, with one abstention, to debate allegations of widespread human rights violations in Burma.
