파라 주는 북대서양 조약기구-나토군이 탈레반 세력을 몰아내기위해 노력하고 있는 아프가니스탄 남부지역에 비해 최근까지 비교적 조용한 편이었습니다.
한편, 폴란드는 14일 최소한 9백명의 추가병력을 내년 2월까지 아프가니스탄에 파견할 것이라고 밝혔습니다. 폴란드는 현재 백명의 병력을 아프가니스탄에 주둔시키고 있습니다.

Afghan police say 150 Taleban militants stormed a police compound today (Thursday), sparking a gunbattle that left two militants and two police dead.
Officials say the militants briefly held control of the headquarters in Farah province before the fighting broke out.
Until recently, the province had been relatively quiet compared to southern Afghanistan, where NATO forces have been trying to wipeout Taleban fighters.
In other developments, Poland said today (Thursday) it would send at least 900 more troops to Afghanistan, to join the 100 it has stationed there. It says the additional troops will be in Afghanistan by February next year.
NATO has requested more soldiers to bolster its forces in Afghanistan.
