European Union leaders say they are not satisfied that Burma is making reforms to allow democracy and improve human rights in the country.

Finnish Prime Minster Matti Vanhanen expressed the concerns today (Monday) at the end of a two-day summit between European and Asian leaders in Helsinki.

Vanhanen said Burmese officials have given "no clear promise" to improve human rights conditions.

Burma's Foreign Minister U Nyan Win attended the summit, after EU officials agreed to temporarily lift a travel ban against top Burmese officials.

European leaders have been calling on Burma to release jailed pro-democracy leader Aung Sang Suu Kyi, and launch a national reconciliation process.

Top officials from 38 Asian and European nations attended the summit for talks on trade and security issues.
