이라크의 누리 알-말리키 총리는 이라크에서 폭력 사태가 점차 줄어들고 있으며 이라크 군이 국내 치안유지에 있어 진전을 이루고 있다고 말했습니다.
말리키 총리는 이라크에서 근 30명이 목숨을 잃은 27일 미국 CNN-TV에 출연해 그같이 말했습니다.
말리키 총리는 이라크가 현재 내전 상황에 있지 않으며 앞으로도 내전은 결코 일어나지 않을 것이라고 강조했습니다.
말리키 총리는 이라크에서 얼마나 오래 동안 미군 병력을 필요로 할 것인 지에 관해서는 구체적으로 언급하지 않았습니다.
앞서 말리키 총리는 시아파와 수니파 지도자 수백명으로부터 종파간 폭력 사태를 막기 위해 단합하겠다는 약속을 받아냈습니다.
한편 이라크 키르쿠크에서는 두 건의 자살 차량 폭탄 공격이 거의 동시에 발생해 적어도 9명이 사망했습니다. 이 공격은 이라크의 잘랄 탈레바니 대통령 조카의 자택 밖에서와 경찰 국장 자택에서 각각 발생했습니다.
또한 바그다드에서는 27일 팔레스타인 호텔 부근에 있던 소형버스에서 폭탄 공격이 발생해 적어도 6명이 목숨을 잃었습니다.
또한 바그다드 시내 관영 알-사바 신문사 밖에서 차량 폭탄 공격으로 적어도 2명이 사망했습니다.
북부 바쿠바의 한 시장에서도 폭탄 공격이 발생해 6명이 숨졌으며 남부 바스라에서는 오토바이 폭탄 공격으로 적어도 4명이 목숨을 잃었습니다.
이보다 앞서 키르쿠크에서는 탈레바니 대통령의 쿠르드애국연합당 사무실에서 또다른 자살폭탄 공격으로 경비원 한 명이 사망했습니다.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki says the violence is decreasing in Iraq and Iraqi forces are making progress in securing the country.
He made the comments to CNN television today (Sunday) as bombings in Iraq claimed nearly 30 lives.
Mr. Maliki told CNN that Iraq is not in a civil war and never will be. He would not specify how long he thought American troops would be needed in Iraq.
On Saturday, Mr. Maliki secured an agreement with hundreds of Shi'ite and Sunni tribal leaders to unite against sectarian violence
Two nearly simultaneous suicide car bombings killed at least nine people in Kirkuk. The attacks happened outside the home of a cousin of Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and at the home of a police chief.
In Baghdad, a bomb on a minibus killed at least six people, and a car bombing outside the offices of the state-run newspaper killed at least two others.
Elsewhere, a bombing in a marketplace killed six people (in al-Khalis) north of Baquba. And, a motorcycle bomb killed at least four people in the southern city of Basra.
Earlier in the day, another suicide bomber killed a security guard at the Kirkuk office of Mr. Talebani's Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
