이탈리아의 마씨모 달레마 외무장관은 레바논 주둔 유엔평화유지군 증파로 이스라엘과 근 한달째 전쟁을 계속해 왔던 헤즈볼라 무장 단체를 파괴시키기 위한 목표가 달성되지는 못할 것이라고 말했습니다.
달레마 장관은 미국의 시사 주간지 ‘타임’과의 대담에서 헤즈볼라는 레바논 사회의 중대한 일원이며 헤즈볼라가 합법적인 정당으로 전환하길 원하고 있다고 말했습니다.
그러나 달레마 장관은 헤즈볼라가 이스라엘에 대한 적대 행위를 재개할 경우 국제 사회와 직면해야할 것이라는 점을 헤즈볼라는 알고 있다고 덧붙였습니다.
마씨모 달레마 장관은 또한 이탈리아는 이스라엘의 안보 보장을 돕기 원하기 때문에 레바논에 3천명의 자국군 병력을 파견하기로 동의했다고 말했습니다.
이스라엘은 이탈리아의 유엔평화유지군 파병 제의를 환영하면서 유엔 평화유지군에는 이스라엘과 외교 관계를 유지하고 있는 회교국가들의 군병력도 포함되기 원하고 있다고 덧붙였습니다.

Italy's foreign minister says the goal of the expanded U.N. peacekeeping force in Lebanon will not be to destroy the militant group, which fought a month-long war with Israel.
In an interview with "Time" magazine, Massimo D'Alema says is an important part of Lebanese society, and he hopes it will transform into a legitimate political party.
But, D'Alema warns that if Hezbollah resumes hostilities against Israel, the group knows "it must face the international community."
In the interview, D'Alema also says Italy agreed to send up to three-thousand troops to Lebanon because it wants to help guarantee Israel's security.
Israel has welcomed Italy's proposed deployment, and says it also wants the force to include troops from Muslim countries that have diplomatic relations with the Jewish state.
