이란은 22일, 자국의 핵 개발 문제와 관련해 소위 “진지한 협상”에 임할 준비가 돼 있지만, 미국과 다른 나라들이 요구한대로 핵무기에 사용될 수 있는 우라늄 농축 활동을 중단할지의 여부는 밝히지 않았습니다.

Iran's former president Mohammad Khatami has told the Japanese prime minister that radical forces could take over in Iran if the global community continues to pressure Tehran to give up its nuclear activities.
Mr. Khatami met with Junichiro Koizumi Thursday in Tokyo. He told Mr. Koizumi he believes the standoff over Iran's nuclear program can be solved through peaceful negotiations rather than pressure.
Mr. Koizumi said he hopes Iran will respect the international community on the issue.
Tuesday, Iran said it is ready for what it called "serious negotiations" on its nuclear program, but it did not say whether it would stop enriching uranium that could be used in a nuclear weapon, as the United States and other countries have demanded. Mr. Khatami is scheduled to visit the United States early next month.
