영국 정부는 대서양 상공에서 미국행 민간 항공기를 폭파하려는 테러 음모와 관련된 용의자 11명을 공식 기소했습니다.
영국의 수잔 헤밍 검사는 21일, 8명의 용의자들은 살인 혐의로 그리고 나머지 3명은 관련 범죄혐의로 기소됐다고 말했습니다. 헤밍 검사는 현재 구금 중인 다른 11명은 조사 중이며 12번째 용의자는 기소되지 않고 석방됐다고 말했습니다.
파키스탄에 구금중인 7명을 포함한 모든 용의자들은 영국 정부가 액체 폭발 물질로 10여개에 이르는 항공기를 폭파하려는 테러 음모를 적발한 8월 10일 당일이나 그 이후에 체포됐습니다.
피터 클라크 런던 경찰청 대테러국장은 조사 범위가 방대하다고 말하고 경찰은 400대의 컴퓨터와 200대의 휴대 전화 그리고 그 밖의 8000개의 물품들을 압수했다고 덧붙였습니다.

British authorities have formally charged 11 suspects in the alleged plot to blow up U.S.-bound airliners over the Atlantic.
Crown prosecutor Susan Hemming said eight of the suspects were charged today (Monday) with conspiracy to commit murder, and the remaining three with related offenses. She said 11 others remain in custody under active investigation, and that a 12th has been freed without charges.
All of the suspects, including seven others in Pakistani custody, were arrested on or since August 10th, when British authorities revealed the plot to bomb as many as 10 airliners with liquid explosives.
Top police official Peter Clarke called the scale of the probe immense. He said investigators have seized 400 computers and 200 mobile telephones, along with eight-thousand other items. He said the probe has also yielded bomb-making materials, chemicals, electrical components and video recordings.
