The U.N. Security Council is expected this week to vote on a resolution demanding Iran suspend its nuclear enrichment work or face the threat of sanctions.
A vote could come as early as today (Monday).
The draft resolution demands that Iran stop its nuclear enrichment and research by August 31st, to be verified by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
If Iran does not comply, it could face a ban on the import of materials and technology that could be used for nuclear activities. Tehran also faces possible travel restriction on its leaders.
A Foreign Ministry spokesman (Hamid Reza Asefi) told reporters in Tehran Sunday that Iran will stop considering an international nuclear incentives package if the Security Council passes the resolution.
Tehran has said it will not respond to the incentives package until August 22nd, nine days before the U.N. deadline.
