버마에서 새 헌법을 성안할 국민회의가 올해 말 이전에 재개될 것으로 보입니다.
버마 군부의 한 관계관은 현지 언론을 통해 버마의 새 헌법을 성안하기 위한 기초작업이 거의 마무리되고 있으며 그에 대한 절차가 곧 재개될 것이라고 말했습니다.
버마관영신문인 ‘더 뉴 라이트 오브 미얀마’는 새 헌법에 포함될 15개 헌장이 준비됐다는 타인 사인 중장의 말을 인용 보도했습니다. 사인 중장은 앞서 29일 버마의 새 행정 수도인 나이피다우에서 열린 예비회담에서 그같이 말했습니다.
버마의 군사 지도부는 1988년 민주화 운동을 강제 진압하고 야당인 민족민주동맹이 선거에서 승리한 결과를 인정하지 않고 있습니다. 민족민주동맹 당수인 아웅산 수지 여사는 계속 가택연금 상태에 놓여있습니다.

Burma's national convention on writing a new constitution will resume its work before the end of this year.
A member of Burma's military leadership is quoted in local media as saying the groundwork for drafting Burma's new constitution is nearly complete and the process will soon resume.
State-run newspaper "The New Light of Myanmar" reports Lieutenant General Thein Sein said 15 chapters have been prepared for inclusion in a new constitution.
He spoke Saturday at a preparatory meeting in Naypyidaw, the new administrative capital of Burma.
Burma's military leadership crushed a pro-democracy movement in 1988 and refused to recognize an election victory by the opposition National League for Democracy. The party's leader, Aung San Suu Kyi remains under detention.
