이라크 수도 바그다드와 북부 키르쿠크 시에서 차량 폭탄 공격이 발생해 62명이 사망했다고 이라크 당국자들이 밝혔습니다.
당국자들은 가장 치명적인 폭탄 공격은 바그다디 사드르 시티 지역의 한 혼잡한 시장 부근에서 발생한 폭탄 폭발로 34명이 목숨을 잃었다고 전했습니다.
그로부터 얼마되지 않아 한 정부 청사 밖에서 또다른 폭탄 공격이 발생해 8명이 추가 사망했습니다. 이들 폭탄 공격은 미군과 이라크 정부군이 키르쿠크를 기습해 시아파 과격 성직자 모크타다 알-사드르에 충성하는 민병대원들과 충돌을 벌인 지 불과 몇 시간 만에 발생했습니다.
또한 키르쿠크 북쪽 지역의 한 법원 부근에서도 차량 폭탄 폭발로 20명이 사망하고 118 명이 부상했습니다.
한편, 이라크 당국자들은 2주일 여 전에 단식 투쟁에 들어갔던 전 독재자 사담 후세인이 병원에 입원했다고 말했습니다. 사담은 전범 혐의 재판을 받기 위해 24일 법정에 출두하도록 돼 있습니다.

Iraqi authorities say car bombs in Baghdad and the northern city of Kirkuk killed 62 people today (Sunday).
They say the deadliest blast occurred in Baghdad's Sadr City neighborhood when a bomb killed 34 near a busy market. A short time later, another blast killed eight more people outside a municipal building.
The bombings came hours after U.S. and Iraqi government forces raided the district and clashed with militiamen loyal to radical Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr.
To the north, a car bomb killed 20 people and wounded 118 others near a courthouse in Kirkuk (Sunday).
Meanwhile, Iraqi officials say ousted dictator Saddam Hussein has been hospitalized after being on a hunger strike more than two weeks. Saddam is due to appear in court Monday for the latest session of his war crimes trial.
