인도양에서 발새한 강력한 해저지진에 따른 해저 지진 쓰나미 인도네시아 자바섬 남서부 지역이 강타당해 적어도 80명이 사망하고 70여 명이 실종됐습니다.
인도네시아 관계관들은 수도, 자카르타로부터 300 킬로미터 떨어진 인도양 해저에서 발생한 강도 7.7의 지진에 이어 높이 2미터의 지진해일이 자바 서부지역 해안일대를 덮쳤다고 말했습니다.
실종자 70여명의 대부분은 자바 서부 휴양지 팡간다란에서 휴가를 즐기던 관광객들이었습니다.
미국 태평양의 쓰나미 경보센터는 인도양 해역에서 광범위하게 발생하는 쓰나미를 조기경보할 수 있는 가능성이 별로 없다고 말하고 있습니다.

A tsunami triggered by a powerful earthquake hit the southwestern coast of Indonesia's main island of Java today (Monday), killing at least 80 people and destroying buildings in its path.
The two-meter-high tsunami sent people running into the hills away from coastal areas of West Java province. More than 70 people are reported missing, most of them in the seaside resort town of Pangandaran. Among the missing are two young Swedish boys whose father was injured in the tsunami.
One witness told Indonesia's El Shinta radio that the tsunami wrecked houses and businesses in Pangandaran. One local official says the death toll is rising as rescuers sift through the rubble left behind by the surging waters.
Roads to the resort town are heavily damaged, and power is out in much of the area.
Officials say the earthquake had a magnitude of seven-point-seven and was centered in the Indian Ocean more than 300 kilometers away from the Indonesian capital, Jakarta (which is on Java). Several aftershocks have been reported.
The U.S. government-run Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says there is little chance of any widespread tsunami activity in the region.
