인도 제1의 경제중심지인 뭄바이시에서 일어난 열차 연쇄폭발 테러공격의 희생자수가 160 여 명으로 늘어난 가운데 인도 전국의 대도시들에 비상경계령이 내려졌습니다.
인도 경찰은 11일, 뭄바이시의 역과 열차에서 퇴근하는 사람들로 붐비는 시간에 일곱 건의 연쇄 폭발이 순식간에 일어났다고 밝히고 이번 폭발은 교묘히 연계된 공격이었다고 지적했습니다. 이 연쇄폭발에 의한 부상자수도 4백30여 명으로 늘어났습니다.
인도의 만모한 싱 총리는 긴급 각료회의를 열어 상황을 점검하고 테러리스트들의 사악한 음모를 분쇄할 것이라고 다짐했습니다.
뭄바이 연쇄폭발 공격을 아무도 자신들의 소행이라고 자처하고 나서지 않았으나 인도령 카슈미르의 회교도 분리주의자들에게 혐의가 쏠리고 있습니다.

The death toll from seven explosions on commuter trains in the western Indian city of Bombay (also known as Mumbai) has reached more than 160, with more than 435 others wounded.
Police say the blasts occurred in rapid succession during the evening rush hour Tuesday as thousands of commuters were traveling home. They say the explosions were part of a well-coordinated attack.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh held an emergency Cabinet meeting in New Delhi to assess the situation. He issued a statement in which he vowed to defeat what he called the evil designs of terrorists.
So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but suspicion turned to Muslim separatists fighting New Delhi's rule in Indian Kashmir.
Major cities across the country have been put on high alert and authorities have appealed for calm.
