미국은 이란으로하여금 우라늄 농축 활동을 중단하고 서방과의 핵 협상에 복귀하도록 만들 국제적인 일괄타결안에 대해 이란이 다음 주중에 공식 응답할 것으로 기대하고 있다고 미국의 한 외교관이 말했습니다.
미국 국무부의 니콜라스 번스 차관은 30일 부뤼셀에서 기자들에게 오는 7월 5일로 예정된 이란의 알리 라리자니 핵 협상 수석 대표와 유럽 연합의 하비에르 솔라나 외교 정책 대표사이의 회담에서 이란이 일괄타결안에 응답할 것으로 보고 있다고 말했습니다.
그러나 이란의 마누세르 모타키 외무 장관은 앞서 29일 유엔에서 그 어느 누구도 8월 이전에는 이란으로부터의 응답을 듣지 못할 것이라고 말했습니다.

A top U.S. diplomat says Washington expects Iran to give its formal response next week to an international offer of incentives for Tehran to suspend uranium enrichment and return to nuclear talks with the West.
Under Secretary of State Nicholas Burns told reporters in Brussels today (Friday) he expects an Iranian response at a meeting between its chief negotiator Ali Larijani and European Union foreign policy chief, Javier Solana. That meeting is set for Wednesday (July 5th).
However, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said at the United Nations Thursday that no one should expect an answer from Tehran until August.
He said Iran needs more time to clarify what he calls ambiguities in the proposal put forward by the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council plus Germany.
