At least 80 Iraqi factory workers have been kidnapped in Taji, north of Baghdad.
Security officials say the employees work for companies that fall under the ministry of industry. They were kidnapped at the end of the work day today (Wednesday). The officials say gunmen in at least three cars seized buses that were transporting the workers home.
In Baghdad today, a car bomb in the Shi'ite neighborhood of Sadr City killed two people. Unknown assailants also killed one of Saddam Hussein's senior defense lawyers. Police say Khamis al-Obaidi's body was found in Baghdad after he was abducted at his home.
In other developments, the U.S. military said Iraqi troops captured a "high-level" insurgent during a raid in the capital. U.S. officials say the wanted man, Noori Abu Hayder al-Oqabi, led an assassination cell.
